Customized Parametric Eyewear Design for Anglers Using Grasshopper
Intro
This project, in collaboration with BRAGi, a Nanjing-based eyewear design and manufacturing company, focused on creating customized eyewear tailored to individual facial structures and the specific needs of fishing enthusiasts. Through user interviews and surveys, we conducted detailed research on the pain points of anglers, analyzing the results with the Kano model to identify both essential needs and delight factors. Key features included polarized lenses for glare reduction, wind-resistant and breathable design, and a quick clip-on mechanism for ease of use. These insights formed the foundation for a specialized eyewear model catering to this niche activity. Using Grasshopper, we integrated parametric modeling to adapt the frame design to 3D facial scans, achieving a precise fit for individual users. The design was finalized with a prototype tailored to a specific client’s facial contours. The manufacturing process was completed at BRAGi’s professional facilities, ensuring the product met high standards of functionality and aesthetics.
